Finance Associate

Position Overview

This group already has significant assets under management, and it is envisioned that there is the potential for new fund vehicles to be formed over the next year. With this aggressive growth, it will be the mission of the Finance Associate to contribute to the increased demands placed on the finance team with an emphasis on the quality and professionalism of the work product. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional to focus on the credit, private debt funds and gain additional experience to all of the other investment products from both an accounting and operational standpoint.

Responsibilities

  • Understand various types of complex investments and how they function within the portfolio (i.e. reporting, exposure, valuation)

  • Responsible for accurate calculation of Funds’ net asset values, fees, and accruals

  • Oversee month-end closings and maintain full accounting records as well as work with third party administrator

  • Monitor monthly capital subscriptions and redemptions as necessary

  • Review quarterly/annual financial statements and work papers provided by third party administrator

  • Perform calculation of hurdle rates and related incentive fee calculations & allocations

  • Update and analyze month to date, year to date and inception to date performance returns

  • Assist Business Development team with ongoing investor requests and ad-hoc fundraising request

  • Interact effectively and liaise with multiple groups within the Firm, including but not limited to: Tax, Management Company, GP Finance, Valuation Group, Investor Relations, Operations and Investment Professionals

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience

  • Public accounting background with minimum of 2 years a plus (“Big 4” firm preferred)

  • CPA (or progress towards a CPA) a plus

  • Experience working with debt instruments preferred (including but not limited to bank debt, bonds, equity, and derivative instruments) preferably in a hedge fund, private equity or audit environment

  • Experience with or working knowledge of accounting and trade systems

  • Ability to take ownership/responsibility of work product and meet deadlines

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP partnership accounting

  • Problem solving skills a must

  • Proficient knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
