A mid-size, established investment manager firm located in Boston is looking for a new member of the accounting team. The Accounting Manager role would report to the Controller. Roles & Responsibilities
Provide US GAAP oversight in the monthly/ quarterly fund close process.
Act as a point of contact for various segments of our business (client reporting, business development, tax, management co, legal, trading and research).
Calculate management fees and incentive fees to corroborate our third party administrators model.
Fund expense budgeting and periodic accrual reviews, which includes reconciling our shadow books and records to our fund administrator.
Review of fund capital allocation, NAV packages, redemption proceeds, and investor statements. Quarterly process for most funds, monthly process for a couple funds.
Close involvement with the audit and financial statement review process. Funds undergo audits with a 90 day regulatory deadline following 12/31, as well as 180 day deadline.
Various ad hoc projects working with the investment group and/or the IT developers.
Public Accounting Experience, CPA
Experience working with large data sets and a data warehouse
Master’s degree in accounting
Prior experience with various products including Fund of Hedge Funds, equities, fixed income, repurchase agreements, futures, FX, Mortgages and options
GIPS / performance reporting experience
Demonstrated GAAP accounting knowledge in hedge fund and fund-of-fund product classes
Strong Excel Skills
Ability to adapt to changing requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
5+ years' experience in Accounting working for a Public Accounting Firm, Fund Administrator, Hedge Fund, Mutual Fund, or other Investment Advisor
