Senior Tax Accountant

The ideal candidate for the role should possess the following characteristics and qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance

  • Master’s degree in taxation, or a related field, and/or CPA designation a plus

  • At least 6-8 years of investment industry tax and accounting experience

  • Exposure to tax and financial issues of a mid-sized investment management company preferred

  • Intermediate to advanced level MS Office skills, particularly Excel

  • Steadfast attention to detail with a view towards continual process improvement

  • Ability to demonstrate utmost professional discretion and protect highly confidential information

  • Strong organizational, critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Effective and professional communication skills, both oral and written

  • Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with the ability to effectively multi-task, remain flexible and prioritize assigned deliverables

This position will be a member of an eight person team that manages and performs the financial record keeping processes related to the companies business entities and their employees/owners which includes functions such as accounting, compensation, tax compliance, reporting and forecasting. The specific responsibilities of this position will primarily include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation, and/or limited review, of the following deliverables:

    • Taxable income and allocation work-papers for the companies business related entities including fixed asset depreciation calculations

    • Owner-level reporting, including periodic taxable income estimates and Schedules K-1

    • Data source files, such as the owners’ equity, NAV and distribution files

    • Entity level federal, state, local and international tax and information returns such as Form 1065 and comparable state filings, Forms 1099, personal property taxes and use taxes

    • Employee payroll reporting, including Forms W-2 and quarterly Form 941

    • Payroll reconciliation files, audit spreadsheets and 401(k) plan limitation files

    • Various management reports

  • Participating in the completion of tax compliance processes for the U.K. domiciled entities

  • Periodic processing of U.S. and U.K. payroll for approximately 250-300 employees

  • Performing ad-hoc projects, process improvement initiatives and analyses as assigned

  • Serving as a technical resource and liaison in areas of responsibility by maintaining knowledge of relevant tax, payroll and accounting concepts

  • Remaining a culture carrier by demonstrating the core values outlined in the companies principles and perspectives
