Job Description Summary

The Senior Business Process Engineer is responsible for managing the planning, execution, implementation and change management of Lean Six Sigma and Process Excellence programs and projects as part of the HarbourVest Enterprise Continuous Improvement Office.  The Senior Business Process Engineer will be responsible for driving the full lifecycle of project delivery, from strategic planning through implementation and roll out, working with a cross functional team of business, operations, and technical resources. The Senior Business Process Engineer will be accountable for ensuring the success of the project and work closely with the executive sponsor and key stakeholders of the project to ensure the schedule, cost and expected business outcome success criteria and objectives are delivered as expected. Candidates should have demonstrated experience executing projects across Process, People, Technology, Data and Risk that result in impactful productivity enhancements, scalability, process automation, digital acceleration, client delight and an improved internal employee experience.

Job Skills and Abilities

·       Investment Management / Financial Services industry experience preferred with Private Equity Fund of Funds experience a plus

·       Ability to translate a strategic vision into a project for execution, with a focus on change management, user adoption and benefits realization

·       Prior experience conducting current-state assessments, gap analysis and future-state design across the holistic Operating Model Ecosystem

·       Ability to diagnose problems and propose impactful recommendations

·       Business Process Engineering, Business Analysis, Requirements Gathering and IT System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience

·       Program / Project Management experience and disciplines across Business Operations and IT projects

·       Operational Risk mindset and ability to identify process risk

·       Experience with both the DMAIC and SDLC Agile strategy, approach, methodology and key deliverables from project initiation through implementation

·       Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt Certification Required

·       Project Management and Change Management certifications preferred

·       Proven track record of leading and implementing strategic cross functional projects

·       Demonstrated ability to motivate and persuade cross-organizational project team members towards project deliverables and outcomes

·       Adept at problem solving, mitigating issues, identifying creative solutions, driving to decisions, and delivering results consistently

·       Effective at managing multiple and often competing priorities

·       Able to balance strategic mindset with tactical planning

·       Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

·       Able to maintain working relationships across all levels of the organization through effective communication and conflict resolution skills

Certifications:

·       Lead Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred, Green Belt required

·       Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

·       Change Management trained and certified preferred (e.g., ADKAR)

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning: 20%

Participate and lead annual and in-year strategic planning activities, develop initiative roadmap including project scope definition, project business case, resource and funding requirements

·       Lead strategic planning workshops and other activities to define strategy, obtain executive support, and outline initiatives to achieve strategic objectives

·       Develops strategic presentations and communications for executive level routines

·       Execution lead for strategic projects that are in the R&D phase of development, positions and transitions projects for execution

·       Supports the continuous improvement strategy through the establishment of KPIs and problem-solving capabilities

·       Partner closely with Executive Sponsors, Business Leads / Product Owners and IT Platform Owners to understand strategic vision, problems / pain points and value add improvement opportunities that deliver impactful value

Program and Project Execution: 70%

Lead and execute against assigned program and project objectives and deliver agreed business benefits and outcomes

·       Closely partner with Firm leadership to develop project proposals to determine project goals, objectives, schedule, budgetary requirements, execution methodology, and resource requirements

·       Utilize Lean Six Sigma methodology to analyze current state processes, identify waste and inefficiencies, design new/future state processes, recommend solutions, and work with Firm leadership to implement improvements working end-to-end across the Firm

·       Reengineer processes and align digital levers to increase efficiency to position Firm for continued growth and scale

·       Develop detailed project execution plans specifying tasks, dependencies, resource allocation, timing, risks, issues, and mitigation plans. 

·       Drive standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation

·       Lead and facilitate key project meetings throughout the DMAIC lifecycle to ensure high quality outcomes are achieved

·       Prepare project status reports and steering committee documents to ensure the team and Firm leadership are informed and driving timely decision making

·       Actively manage scope and change control processes, coordinating decision processes

·       Mentor and train colleagues on process/continuous improvement initiatives as necessary on quality tools and techniques

·       Ensure that all targets internal as well as external are met for the process, with improvement driven through continuous improvement methodologies

Yellow Belt and Green Belt Training and Coaching: 10%

·       Leads Yellow Belt and Green Belt training programs in partnership with fellow Senior Business Process Engineers

·       Coaches candidates through certification

·       Continuously improves training materials and methods

BS/BA or equivalent

Work Experience

8-12 years' experience leading and executing high impact, complex cross functional strategic change management programs and projects that deliver measurable value to the firm, business teams and external clients
